Christopher Weatherley Consultant Spinal Surgeon. Qualified MBChB in Liverpool in 1968. Worked as a Senior Research Associate in the MRC Decompression Sickness Unit, Newcastle upon Tyne between 1973-76. Senior Registrar in Orthopaedics Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital 1979-87 and European Research Fellow, Institut Calot, Berck-Plage, France 1981-82. Spinal Surgeon St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne 1985-86. Appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in 1987 and founded the Spinal Unit.
Author of many publications on spinal surgery and Gold Medal Lecture, Old Oswestrians Association 2000. Secretary and Treasurer British Scoliosis Society 1996-99 and President 2006-7. Member of the Council of British Scoliosis Research Foundation since 1988. Interests – art, sculpture, poetry.
