Affiliation with SAUK

In November, 2006, BSRF became officially affiliated with the Scoliosis Association (SAUK). SAUK is the only UK charity that exists solely to support people with scoliosis. Since the affiliation, both charities feature heavily in each others work.
The affiliation of the two charities centres round a joint fundraising venture, the Scoliosis Campaign Fund (SCF). In November, 2007, the SCF was set up to unite the two organisations fundraising strategies. The SCF committee (Laura Counsell, Peter Virley, Stephanie Clark, James Zorab, Stephen Bullock, and Ian Harrison) devise new fundraising ideas and initiatives. All funds raised from the activities are equally split between the organisations, so all money raised goes to helping those affected by scoliosis. Both organisations continue to do their own individual fundraising but the focus is now on joint fundraising through SCF. SAUK aims to provide advice, support and information to people affected by scoliosis and to raise awareness among health professionals and the general public. They offer support through a helpline, publications, meetings and have a membership service which connects people together. As a member you get access to a local support network and receive twice yearly newsletter Backbone. For more information about SAUK visit: www.sauk.org.uk.
